The overall length of the slope wire is only slightly over 40 feet long. A single 50 ohm feed point (for PL259) at the apex of the antenna is provided for maximum DX reception. (User supplies his own 50 ohm coaxial lead-in). The DX-SWL is fully assembled for easy installation. It requires no adjustments or "trimming". This American made antenna has stainless steel hardware for long life and utilizes low-Q RF choke-resonators for efficient multi-band frequency selection. For quality of construction, ease of erection and maximum performance, we think the Alpha-Delta DX-SWL is a great value. It is a very popular popular shortwave antenna.

LW-40 - END-FED LONG WIRE MULTI-BAND ANTENNA 80 - 6 METERS  (1,6 - 52 MHz), max. input power 400 W p.e.p. SSB

The LW-40 is an end fed long wire aerial.

It incorporates a 9:1 UNUN at the feedpoint enabling it to be fed directly with 50 Ohm coaxial cable.

The 9:1 UNUN also removes static noise and provides a DC path to earth. 

LW-40 can handle up to 400W RF p.e.p. SSB

LW-40: 40,56 meters in length, this will work on all bands from 160m – 6m via an ATU. Big performance from a small foot print.

These antennas give excellent results where space is at a premium.
However, please note that due to the varying impedance found on any long wire antenna, the built in ATU in your average transceiver will not be able to cope with all bands.

For full band coverage you will need an external ATU or possible some form of capacitive loading system.

Taking the cue from this antenna, Radio Works has produced dipoles optimized for each single band and consisting of the classic half-wave dipole powered in the middle by a vertical radiating line of a quarter-wave length, isolated from the coaxial line by using a Line lsolator, also modified for the purpose and bandwidth optimized.
The result has been remarkable as to the possibility to work DX signals, that is to say long distance.
So why are we still producing simple dipoles?
The explanation lies in the fact that the dipoles are very good for high radiation angles, as well as for short and medium distance contacs, if properly installed.
On the other hand, VRD (Vertically Radiating Dipoles) dipoles have an extremely low radiation angle, due precisely to the prevalence of vertical polarization.
The maximum current point of the vertical radiator, however, is located at the top, at the junction point to the horizontal section, and not at the bottom, where it joins the coaxial line, with the undoubted advantages of moving this point of maximum current at the top, far from the earth and its ohmic losses.
A further advantage also derives from the fact that a horizontal dipole will have a figure-8 radiation pattern, with the maximum radiation perpendicular to the conductor and the minimum radiation in the direction of the extremities.
VRD, on the other hand, has an omnidirectional radiation pattern, with an extreme advantage at low angles.
Therefore, during the hours when the propagation is short the dipole VRD and the horizontal dipole can tend to equalize, but when the propagation skip is longer and the angle required to work the distant stations is lowered, the advantage given by the low angle vertical radiation component of the VRD compared to the conventional dipole becomes drastic: an average advantage spanning from half a point to 3-4 S-meter points, which means from 3 to 18-24 dB of difference!

RADIO WORKS - 80 METERS BIG-SIG LOOP - GIANT MONOBAND LOOP - PERIMETER LENGHT = 1.5 WAVELENGHT

The secret of this monoband loop antenna lies in its total perimeter length, equal to 1.5 wavelengths.
Its gain is close to that of the famous bi-square, despite being much more compact than that one.

It can be mounted as shown in the figure, with the apex at the bottom, or on the contrary, with the apex at the top, or in other configurations such as the rectangular or the square shape.

Thanks to its large capture surface, low reception noise, excellent low angle radiation pattern with good signal gain, it offers the possibility of connecting far away stations much more easily, which is often unthinkable with small antennas.

Thanks to the special dedicated impedance transformer located at the feed point, it is possible to directly use 50 OHM cable without a tuner at the resonance point.
