The AR 8600 MK2 is an extremely versatile all mode receiver which can be used virtually anywhere. It can be powered from an external 12 V DC power source, 12V vehicle supply with optional cigar lead (CD8600) or from an optional internally fitted battery pack (BP8600).
A strong twin metal case with die cast front panel characterises the multi-purpose role.
All mode receive capability is provided including SSB with programmable tuning steps down to a resolution of 50Hz with the frequency established by a highly accurate TCXO.

The AR8600 RF front end is an all new design with preselection around VHF to ensure the highest levels of adjacent channel rejection with software spurii cancellation. 

In addition to a hinged telescopic whip aerial, the AR8600 is supplied with a detachable plug in medium wave bar aerial which locates on the rear chassis of the receiver for localised medium wave monitoring.
An additional BNC socket is mounted on the rear chassis so that 10.7MHz i.f. output may be extracted for use with external spectrum display and vector analyzer units such as the AOR SDU5500. 

The TCXO ensures high stability with minimal internal spurii and is usually only seen in top of the range models such as the AR5000 & AR7030.

Airband Channel Step
The all important 8.33 kHz airband channel step is correctly implemented. Computer control is available via a standard 9-pin RS232 D-type connector on the rear chassis, just a standard RS232 cable is required for connection to a PC, the extensive RS232 command list is printed in the operating manual. In addition, 'optional internal Slot Cards' extend the capabilities even further, five cards may be fitted with two operational simultaneously.

AOR - VI8200 - VOICE INVERTER SLOT CARD - FOR ALL AOR RECEIVERS OF AR-8200 AND AR-8600 MODEL SERIES

The AOR VI8200 is an optional plug-in slot card that performs voice inversion decoding.
It recovers intelligible audio from certain types of analogue voice transmissions which would otherwise sound scrambled.
They operate by splitting up the audio spectrum and flipping the upper and lower tones around a certain frequency point.
The VI8200 enables 157 different flip points to be selected in the audio frequency range of 2.4 kHz to 5.6 kHz.
The table below illustrates the relationship between value and flip frequency.

VSC (Voice Squelch Control)

The VSC opens the squelch only when a modulated signal is detected and ignores unmodulated beat noise. It is a handy feature for those listeners who are scanning for talk, news and music, but not data bursts or beacons.

Multiple power choices

The IC-R6 can be powered by rechargeable Ni-MH cells, or with alkaline batteries. Run the IC-R6 using the AC adapter, or opt for a cigarette lighter cable, CP-18A/E. When used the optional drop-in charger stand BC-194 with the AC adapter or cigarette lighter cable, you can easily start charging the Ni-MH cells, while eliminating the need to connect the power source to the DC power jack of the receiver.

R.F. SYSTEMS - DX 500/3 - TRIPLEXER - 30 kHz-520 kHz / 520 kHz-32 MHz / 32 MHz-550 MHz - ONLY FOR RECEIVING

The DX 500/3 indoor unit makes it possible to use the DX 500 (or other very wide band antenna) for several applications at the same time.

The longwave output covers 30 kHz – 520 kHz and is meant for a longwave receiver such as a Loran set, a NAVTEX receiver, a differential GPS receiver, a German Wetterdienst (Pinnenberg) receiver or similar longwave applications.

The medium- and shortwave output covers 520 kHz to 32 MHz and is meant for a communications/shortwave receiver.

The 3rd output covers 32 MHz to 550 MHz and is meant for VHF – UHF receiver applications such as a scanner, an amateur receiver, a FM broadcast radio or reception of marine radio in the 156 MHz band.

Naturally the DX 500/3 can be also used for other applications.

All three receivers operate if they are connected to their own antenna: thanks to the built-in triplexer there is no mutual influence or signal loss.
There is no need to connect all three receivers: the DX 500/3 can also be used with one or two receivers.

Naturally the optional SP–1 splitter can be connected to one or more outputs if more receivers have to be connected to one or
several outputs of the DX 500/3.

If you need to power an active antenna such as the DX-500, the DX 500/3 indoorunit works on 12 V dc supply voltage, but can be used on 230 V ac mains with the DX 500/ADAP mains adapter.

If you use a PASSIVE antenna there is no need to apply power to this triplexer. 

Of course you can use it also without powering it as a combiner for three different passive antennas to a single receiver connected to the ANTENNA socket, thus allowing for additional filtering at the input.
