In addition to the extended range, improved noise reduction, increased security and clarity of dPMR digital, ProTalk Digital dPMR 446 incorporates many advanced features including the ability to operate in both digital and analogue modes (allowing existing analogue PMR 446 users to continue to use their radios until they are replaced with digital units) and 16 channels for congestion free communication.
 

ECC Decision (15)05 implementation

With the implementation of ECC Decision (15)05, from January 2018, the capabilities of Kenwood ProTalk digital radios (which can all switch between operating at 6.25 kHz digital and 12.5 kHz analogue simply at the press of a button), channel availability will double to 16 channels in analogue mode and 32 channels in digital mode; which means less congestion at peak times or when used in crowded areas.
